10th August 2017

Dear Member,

I hope that you have enjoyed the summer break but are now raring to sing again.

The Choir Year commences on 6th September with enrolment from 7.15 p.m., the A.G.M. at 8 o’clock followed by some singing. The subscription for 2017/8 remains at £40 per member. Please have ready your cheque payable to The Waveney Choir. Subscriptions must be paid by 28th September. You will be asked to check that the choir’s records of your current postal and e-mail addresses and telephone number(s) are correct.

It is necessary to compile a Key Rota for this coming term so there will be a list of dates for which you can volunteer, please.

I’m pleased to confirm that Sarah-Jane will be in charge of music whilst Ian enjoys a well-earned break. Sarah Jane wishes to be known as the Conductor, rather than Musical Director. Shona will continue as Accompanist; Ian will remain the third member of the Music Team.

At the A.G.M. you will be asked to elect a Committee. The Secretary has received nominations for the three Officers plus five other members. This does not preclude any other member (not necessarily singing) from standing for election as an Officer or other member. He or she should contact the Secretary (Anthea Pryce) by 23rd August. If you wish to propose a motion for debate at the A.G.M., please ensure that you have informed Anthea by the same date.

New Members will always be welcomed. There is, as usual, a need for tenors and, less usual, for sopranos. Personal contact is the most effective method of recruitment, so it’s up to you!

The Committee has approved a programme of six concerts; three for Christmas and three in the spring. The dates are on the website and will appear on the new membership cards

Sarah-Jane will describe the coming year’s music. I’m sure that you will find it challenging but rewarding. I’m equally sure that it will satisfy Members’ varied musical tastes. The music for rehearsals will continue to be shown on the website.

We can all look forward to a memorable year.

Yours sincerely

David Emerton
